Welcome back to the 90's anime
Wow, a post not about video games or video games violence, although this BS makes me mad, but about my on again, off again love of anime. When I started to watch anime in the middle 90's, I enjoyed series like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tenchi Muyo, and Ranma ½. But for some reason, I guess much like Hollywood, anime companies are slowly running out of stuff that is new. Not a bad ideal since there still many outstanding series being made, but a look back could do as much more harm as the Starsky and Hutch movie.
Evangelion: 1.0 is a retelling of the Evangelion series, but in a nice movie format with updated everything, in 3 parts. In case you don't know, Second Impact kills off 3/4 of the world and floods everything. So, basically what Al Gore said except in anime form. After 14 years, Shinji Ikari comes in to Tokyo 3 to plot a giant robot to fight battle giant monsters and to become a whinny little prick. Oh and it fights with along side late 90's anime idol, Rei Ayanami, although I was rooting for Asuka Langley Sohryu because he gave Shinji alot of shit, until she bacame a whinny little bitch. Any way, if you can find at the local art house, check it out, because if End of Evangelion is any indication, it might be a while before we see it on DVD. Enjoy this trailer.
Fans of Vash the Stampede will be happy to know that long awaited movie for Trigun is coming. Announced two years, it's finally coming out in 2009. The hold up was they had to finish the manga of Trigun Maximum first.
Last, but not least, is a new Slayers TV Series. After three TV Series, five movies, and four OAV, it appears it hasn't got old with some of the fans, myself included. Not much infomation about it. We might see the return of Lina and gang, or the dreaded Naga, and just something new with the Slayers logo slapped on it. I hope some more will be confirmed pretty soon.
And becasue of the soon to be released No Doubt song pack Guitar Hero 3, here's one of my favorite AMVs, again, from the 90's.
